This work is typical of the plein-air works produced by Jane Sutherland, where the figures in the work, blend with the tones of the landscape. The work was exhibited in the Victorian Artists' Society. Winter Exhibition, Melbourne, May 1895, and in the Catalogue of Paintings, Sculpture, [and] Sketches, it was listed as work no.103, price six guineas.
