WITH DISTANT This work was originally owned by Peter Manifold, of 'Purrumbete', near Camperdown, Victoria, and thence by descent to Sir Chester Manifold and Lady Manifold. The work was worked up from sketches made on his only tour of New South Wales, which von Guerard commenced in November 1859. A related pencil sketch in the Dixson Galleries in Sydney, is titled 'Lake Illawarra; Police Hill; Fig tree, Wollongong' 8 December 1859. This work was offered for sale through Christie's Australia.
