MOUNT ALFRED, AND LAKE WAKATIPU, NEW ZEALAND, 1884
watercolour on paper, 31.5 x 48 cm
Private Collection

In this large watercolour landscape, Elizabeth Parsons has captured the grandeur of the scenery in this part of New Zealand. It is an area ideally suited to the watercolourist, with its lakes, mists and heavy rain-laden clouds.

Lake Wakatipu, was formed by glacial action, and is the largest of the Southern Lakes in the South Island of New Zealand.
