Walter Withers produced many great landscape works in which he captured the mood of the season. He won the first Wynne Prize for landscape painting in 1897 with his work 'The Storm’, painted in 1896, and again won the Wynne Prize in 1900 with his work ‘Still Autumn’. In this work he has captured the tranquility of a Winter rural scene and has depicted one of the cottages on the Banyule Estate. The cottage still stands today at No.7 Walker Court, Viewbank.
